Pilot systems now receiving samples from Mining, Lithium Extraction and Oil & Gas sites
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, May 31, 2023 – waterStrider Treatment Inc. (“waterStrider”), a Canadian Cleantech company with proprietary technology to clean and treat mine water providing major environmental and economic improvements over current practices, today announced the opening of a new pilot facility in Vancouver, B.C.
waterStrider relocated its mining pilot system from Surrey, B.C. and its oil & gas treatment system from Calgary, Alberta to its new location in Vancouver. The new location also houses the new pilot system that extracts lithium from brine pools and oil & gas water treated by waterStrider’s systems.
Dr. Rob Stephenson P.Eng., waterStrider’s co-founder, Chief Technology Officer and Director, states, “We are pleased to have our pilot systems, and our new lithium extraction system, conveniently located in South Vancouver. We are testing water from a number of mines and are generating spectacular results. We look forward to providing this service for mining companies that are seeking to improve performance and lower costs to treat mine water. Our technologies remove a wide range of contaminants from mine water to protect the environment while saving money for our customers.”
waterStrider has test treated mine water for major mining companies with outstanding results, including over 99% removal of toxic metals such as selenium, arsenic, cadmium, lead and zinc and removal of other toxic contaminants such as sulphate and nitrate to permitted levels. waterStrider’s first commercial water treatment system is scheduled for installation this year at a mine in B.C. waterStrider’s systems can also be used to extract lithium from water with up to 99.9% recovery, increasing the concentration of lithium by up to 50 times.
